The nerve of the big toe is linked to that of the abdomen, so there are many benefits to the abdomen when practicing this pose. It improves hip flexibility, strengthens the arms, and develops the child’s balance.

1. Sit with your legs extended in front of you.

2. Bend your left leg by bringing your left knee to your torso.

3. Grab your left big toe with your left hand and pull your leg up, bringing your foot close to your left ear.

4. If at all possible, grab your right big toe with your right hand. Try to hold the pose while breathing normally.

5. Switch sides.

If it helps, your child can use both hands to bring their foot up to their ear.
