SUPPORTED HEADSTAND |
Sirsasana
This pose is considered one of the best in yoga because it benefits the whole body. It improves the blood flow to the brain and eyes, and relieves a large number of muscles. It develops body balance and helps your child overcome the fear of being “head-down.”
1. Place yourself in front of a wall. Kneel close to the wall; lower your torso to put your weight on your forearms.
2. Bend your arms so they are parallel to your thighs, your weight being supported by your hands.
3. Place the top of your head against the wall.
4. Lift your buttocks by extending your legs.
5. Lift one foot up.
6. Lift the other foot up. Your legs are both extended, feet together against the wall. Hold the pose for a few seconds while breathing normally.
7. Come back to the initial position by bringing one foot, then the other, back on the floor.
You can help your child by holding their first foot while their second leg goes up against the wall, then by making sure they are maintaining a good balance.
