SCREAM

Simhasana

This yogic game teaches children to inhale and exhale deeply. The angry lion prepares to roar on an inhale, and roars on an exhale. The exercise engages the muscle of the face, eyes, throat, and tongue.

1. Kneel and sit on your heels.

2. Place the palms of your hands on your knees, keeping your fingers apart and extended.

3. Inhale, pushing out on your back and arching your shoulders.

4. Lower your head so you can see your belly button.

5. Exhale, sticking your tongue down and looking as far up as you can.

6. Scream like a roaring lion.

7. Stretch the muscles of your face to be as frightening as possible.

The yogic games (activities 96 to 100) aim to improve balance and concentration. They help your child perceive the many capabilities their body offers while motivating them to practice yoga. The sound games allow the child to exteriorize and relieve stress. They can be practiced anywhere, anytime, individually, or in a group.
