“I’ll stay in Boston,” you say. You leave your barracks one day and never return. For several weeks, you live in a shopkeeper’s attic. The shopkeeper is a member of the Sons of Liberty.

After a month of hiding, you take a job on a fishing boat. One day on shore, you notice a man watching you. The man looks familiar. He’s not in uniform. Is he from your former regiment?

That night, you mention the stranger to the shopkeeper. “He could be an army agent,” he says. “Maybe you should leave. We have friends in Rhode Island who would gladly take you in.”

You like Boston and working on the fishing boat. Most of the time, the boat is out to sea. You’re safe then. But are you safe enough?
