You stand aside. The soldier raises his gun. Before he can fire, the officer knocks him over from behind. “Help me get him inside,” the officer tells you.

You take one of the man’s arms while the officer takes the other. You march the soldier to the barracks.

Later that night, you hear that the soldiers in front of the Custom House did fire on the crowd. Eleven men were shot, and three died at the scene. The nine soldiers accused of shooting them will be tried for murder.

A few days later, your regiment leaves Boston. You say a silent goodbye to your fellow soldiers in prison. You hope they will get fair trials.
