Act 1, Scene 6

Inverness and Macbeth’s home. Enter King Duncan, Malcolm, Donalbain, Banquo, Lennox, Macduff, Ross, Angus and attendants. The king speaks.

"This castle has a pleasant feel, as does the air around

The guests of summer, nesting birds, on the warming walls abound…" Enter Lady Macbeth.

"Ah, here’s our honoured hostess, in whose care we lie tonight

We thank you for the pains you take to give us such delight."

The lady answered, "Majesty, our service can’t compare

To the honour laid upon our house by your very presence here."

“’Tis my pleasure,” smiled the king, "but where is Cawdor’s Thane?

Give me your hand and take me hence, let me thank him once again."

They exit.
