A built-in spice rack that fits into a base cabinet drawer has a couple of advantages: it is convenient and prevents the willy-nilly spread of spice containers; and it keeps spices away from heat and light that can cause them to degrade more quickly. TIP: Look for drawer inserts that will accommodate containers of various sizes (unless you think you’ll actually consume the same amount of turmeric as dried parsley).
