Chocolate Macaroons I
Ingredients
- 3 egg whites
- 1 pinch salt
- 3/4 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 2 1/4 cups shredded coconut
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Direction
- Set the oven to 165°
C or 325°
F to preheat. Coat cookie sheets with grease.
- Melt chocolate on low heat and allow to cool.
- Whip egg whites in a big metal or glass bowl until foamy. Gradually put in a little sugar and salt at a time until the mixture holds peaks. Stir in vanilla, then fold in nuts, coconut and chocolate. Drop on cookie sheets with teaspoonfuls of the mixture, spaced 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes and cookies should be soft in the middle.
