Form Flaw: Head Thrust Forward

You want your head directly over your body, not out in front like a search party. When you run with your head thrust forward, your neck and upper back muscles have to tighten to maintain the head’s position, a waste of energy that has nothing to do with moving down the road quickly and efficiently.

This form flaw is yet another curse of modernity, brought on by straining our heads forward to look at some screen or another that’s too far away. (Or that would be the right distance away if we would admit our eyesight isn’t what it used to be.) Again, get the ergonomics of your computer set up right. In the meantime, before runs lie on your back and tuck your chin to your chest ten times to reset your head position. While running, try to stay conscious of your head floating weightlessly over your shoulders.
