Dancing with Your Partner(s)

Not all of your training partners need to be of your speed and typical mileage. People of roughly your ilk are your breadand-butter partners, but there’s no reason to avoid runners who are significantly faster or slower, or who run a lot less or more than you do.

If someone is much slower than you, plan to run with him on the day after your hardest workout of the week. If someone is much faster than you, then latch on to her normal run and use it as a tempo run. If someone is going half as far as you usually go, do his run and then add on. If someone is a mileage maniac, join her for the first part of her run. All these runners will welcome your company.
