Horses for Courses

Another reason to do many of your hard workouts away from the artificial setting of a track is to practice running hard on the types of courses you’ll race on. Hard sessions and tempo runs on roads mean you’ll be running on flats and around corners and up and down hills and all the other elements you’ll encounter in a typical road race. You’ll also better prepare your muscles and tendons for handling the increased pounding that accompanies fast running on asphalt.
