241. Interior of Göring’s country house. Obersalzberg near Berchtesgaden.
The simple and traditionally furnished dining room appears functional and very homely. The plates and tankards on the shelves around the walls is something typically Bavarian. In contrast to his public persona as a bon vivant with a penchant for wearing flamboyant uniforms, these images of Göring’s Obersalzberg home are totally at odds with everything about Carinhall, his sumptuous country estate. These images suggest a preference for the understated; something bordering on a rustic simplicity.
