334. The family of Dr Goebbels.

This delightful studio image shows Magda Goebbels surrounded by her children, all the children from her marriage to Joseph Goebbels were given names beginning with the letter ‘H’ in honour of Hitler.

Front row left to right; Hellmut (02.10.35), Hedda (05.05.38), Heidi, on mothers knee (29.10.40), Holde (19.02.37) and Helga (01.09.32). Back row; Hilde (12.04.34) and Harald Quandt the son from her first marriage born in 1921. The Goebbels children absolutely adored Harald their elder half-brother.

Harald, a lieutenant in the Luftwaffe was wounded and captured in Italy in 1944. Subsequently he spent the remainder of the Second World War as a POW in North Africa. Harald Quandt went on to become a successful and wealthy businessman in post-war West Germany. He died on 22 September 1967 when his personal aircraft crashed in Italy. Harald left a wife, Inga, and five daughters.
