The reverse of this fine Hoffmann study of the Führer bears a commemorative stamp and postmark celebrating the annexation of Austria to German Reich. It reads; 10 April 1938 Wien (Vienna) Ein Volk • Ein Reich • Ein Führer (One People • One State • One Leader). Two days later, on 12 April 1938, Hitler announced the establishment of the Greater German Reich in a speech in the Rathaus in Linz, Austria.
