Assigning organs to the Five Element
According to the Yellow Emperor Classic, each element corresponds to respective organs in the body. The organs would have characteristic of the five elements that they are assigned to.
The yellow emperor classic describe that a person would have stronger intuition if he has a healthy lung and large intestine, both metal element. Before I am convince that what has been recorded in the book is correct, I must be able to co-relate or experience it.
Those days, I was required to give oral presentation during health training. To make the training interesting, I would look for new topics and present it in a manner that catch the attention of the audience. I would like to use this point to convince others that it is essential that we should guard the above organs in order to have a stronger intuition. However I must convince myself that I am presenting issue that can co-relate before giving any presentation.
While pondering this issue I suddenly realized that children has better intuition than adult. Relating to the intuition of children and intuition, I began to understand that the intestine and lung of young children are cleaner and healthier than adult’s intestine. The size of the stool of children as compared to the thickness of the stools of adults. Moreover we would notice that children breathe with their abdomen while adults breathe with their chest. Children also have a pure heart and are not prejudiced in their thoughts and feeling.
In another case, I read in the newspaper about a serious car accident in which the whole family of seven perished in that accident. In view of its severity, the reporter interviewed their relative who told him that on the night before the accident, this family who visited her decided to drive home at around midnight. When they were about to get into the car, a child that they were holding cried violently and refused to get into a car as if he knows that the car that he is going in would be an ill-fated car. However he was forced into the car and he perished together with the rest of the passengers.
Excited with this unique knowledge, I probe deeper to find out more about relationship with the organs. Sometimes I would probe into the root cause of the health condition of a person by asking about his dwelling.
The five elements and the organs are;
Wood- (Liver and Gall Bladder)
The corresponding organs for wood is the liver and gall bladder. The gall bladder meridian is activated between 11pm to 1am while the liver meridian is activated between 1.00am to 3.00am. Wood element produce fire, which is hot. When baby are down with fever, we will notice that the highest temperature is between 11pm to 3am.
The other body tissue that relate to the gall bladder and liver is the tendon. When a person is angry, (anger being the emotion of the liver) he would tense up his tendon. Its external aperture is the eyes. Hence in the event that there is impairment of the liver, it would cause poor eyesight. The health of the liver can be analyzed through the finger nail. Lack of shine or brittle finger nails is an indication of weak liver.
Fire- (Heart, Small Intestine, Triple Burner and Pericardium)
The corresponding organs for the fire elements are the heart, small intestine, triple burner and pericardium. As the heart is a fire element it will cause a rise in temperature.
The heart and the small intestine is the fire element. The body parts related to the heart is the blood. When the heart is impaired, it would affect the efficient circulation of the blood. Inefficient circulation of the heart may not nourished the brain appropriately resulting in poor memory, insomnia, and lack of focus.

The corresponding organs for the earth element are the spleen and the stomach. These organs are activated between 7.0am to 9.00am for stomach and 9.00am to 11.0am for the spleen. Ancient Chinese believe that the most important meal is breakfast which should be consume between 7.00am to 9.00am.
The stomach and the spleen is the earth element. The opening aperture of the stomach and spleen is the mouth. Disharmony of the spleen would cause the lips to be dry. There will be lack of appetite and the emotion relating to spleen is melancholy, worries and fear.
Metal- (lung, Large Intestine)
The corresponding organs for metal is lung and large intestines. The lung meridian is activated between 3.00am to 5.00am while the large intestine is activated between 5.00am to 7.00am. For those suffering from cough, it would be more acute during 3.00am to 5.00am. As metal element produce water (corresponding organs is the kidney/bladder) we would normally have a full bladder at around this time. The kidney is stimulated and hence we may have strong sexual desire at this time.
The lung and the large intestine is the metal element. The external body organs is the nose. We will notice that in the event that there is weakness on the lung, there will be disharmony of the nose. We may suffer from sensitive nose. Similarly when one come across weakness in the autonomic nerve wreath at the lung reflex zone, this person may suffer from sinus or sensitive nose.

The external aperture of the kidney is the ear. Please note that the shape of the ear is similar to the shape of the kidney. The body related to the kidney is the head hair. The symptom that manifest by disharmony in the kidney is pain at the back, weakness at the legs, hair loss, and impaired hearing.
When one has a good understanding on the co-relation between the five elements, he would be able to;
