Many patient that I had come across will usually relate lung disease with smoking. Many non-smoker will protest and could not accept that their lung is weak by strongly insisting that they are non-smoker and so they should not have lung disease. However lung disease can come about through many situation like inherited from parents, depression, or as second hand smoker.
A person who suffers from depression would normally have a weak lung. Depression is similar to grief (to be discussed later). Normally depressed person would be very easily infected by influenza.
Prolonged melancholy may lead to depression and anxiety state, as well as coughing, vomiting, insomnia, constipation and sexual impotency. Severe case of melancholy may lead to dementia and cancer
As the lung is closely connected to the heart, melancholy which injures the lung may also affect the heart. As the lung is a metal element, weakness of the lung may stress the fire element (in this case the heart). Over stressing the heart would also weaken the heart.
Because inadequacy of the heart energy may lead to epilepsy, hence melancholy may sometimes lead to this disease
