Jesus said, “It is to those [who are worthy of my] mysteries that I tell my mysteries. Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing.”
Seek the keys of the mysteries and the Lord shall give them to you. Be ready and willing to receive the teachings and initiations of the secret wisdom and the Holy Spirit shall impart them. Let your faith become openness, sensitivity, and a complete surrender to the Holy Spirit, aspiring with your heart, soul, mind, and life to true Gnosis, and she will manifest the Christ-mind in you. To do this, you must let go and let be; you must abide in holy awe and wonder of the mysteries of God and Creation. Put away all preconceptions, preconditions, and expectations, everything you think you know, all that you think you are, and all concepts of reality or God you hold dear. You must become empty of yourself so that you might be filled with the Holy Spirit of the Lord. Then you shall receive all the spiritual knowledge and gifts you desire, all things given to you according to your faith, aspiration, and surrender.
What is the promise of the Lord our God in the prophet Isaiah? The Lord proclaims, “I will give you the treasures of darkness and the riches hidden in secret places, so that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name” (Isaiah 45:3). This is the promise the Lord has made to the faithful and elect who seek knowledge of the Lord and who worship the Lord in Spirit and Truth.
I tell you, if I think I know anything in the presence of the Lord, then I abide in ignorance and prevent any reception. Although a prophet or apostle of the Lord should bring the Word of the Lord to me, I will set myself up as the judge of what to accept or not accept, and the Holy Spirit will not be with me in my receiving. For I am not open and sensitive to the Spirit of the Lord but remain in the darkness with my heart and mind closed. No wonder I can receive very little or nothing at all of the mysteries, for I am unwilling and not ready to receive. Equally, if I believe, in my ignorance, more than the promise of the Lord, so that I do not trust in the Lord and the power of the Holy Spirit to enlighten me, I also prevent my receiving on account of a weakness in my faith. Whether through pride and arrogance or insecurity and lack of faith in the Spirit of the Lord, the Light-transmission is hindered and obstructed.
Now, let it be said that prophecy or divine revelation is only as clear as the mind and heart of the prophet or apostle of God or the one to whom the Lord chooses to speak and reveal his mysteries. To the degree the mind, heart, and life are pure, free of self-cherishing, selfish motivations and ambitions, desires and fears, the Light of the Lord will shine within and through the one who receives. Wherever there is darkness and negativity, however, the presence of the Lord cannot abide, and the Word of the Lord is surely tainted and distorted. Thus, seeking knowledge of the mysteries, I must purify myself of all that would taint, hinder, or obstruct the Word of the Lord. Becoming empty of myself, I must let the Word of the Lord possess me and fill me with the Holy Spirit.
Jesus said, “I have brought the keys of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, otherwise no flesh in the world would be saved. For without the mysteries no one enters into the kingdom of Light, be that person righteous or a sinner. For this cause, therefore, have I brought the keys of the mysteries into the world, so that I may release the sinners who will believe in me and harken unto me” (Pistis Sophia 133).
You cannot rely upon ordinary and superficial consciousness to gain knowledge and understanding of the holy mysteries. Linear and finite reason cannot grasp or comprehend the mysteries nor receive the keys that open the gates of gnosis. In order to gain insight and knowledge, you must shift from the reasoning mind to the intuitive and creative mind. You must learn to enter into higher states of consciousness that are able to receive the divine revelation.
We may consider this shift in consciousness in terms of sound and vibration. There are various frequencies of vibration that produce the sounds we hear. We hear only those frequencies we are attuned to and our physical ears allow us to hear. Although we may hear a great deal, there are many dimensions of sound we are not able to hear because the frequencies are either above or below our range of hearing. In essence, we are not physically attuned to those frequencies of vibration and so do not receive them. To us, it is as though they do not exist at all, yet they are present in the atmosphere nevertheless. If we had different ears that were able to attune themselves to these frequencies, we would be able to hear these other dimensions of sound. The same is true with our other physical senses: taste, smell, touch, and sight. Just as we hear only a certain range of vibratory frequencies of sound, so we only perceive a certain range in the spectrum of light and so on. There are whole levels or dimensions of the physical universe we cannot perceive with our physical senses.
Just as our physical bodies have senses, so also do our subtle bodies. While most ordinary individuals have the potential of psychic and spiritual senses but have not actualized them, the potential is present within every human being. The actual range of the physical senses cannot be extended, save through the agency of our machines. However, not only can psychic and spiritual senses be activated, they can also be extended through shifts into higher states of consciousness. Machines have allowed us to perceive and experience levels or dimensions of physical reality that formerly were hidden and unknown to us. Likewise, if the inner senses of our subtle bodies are awakened and we are able to shift to higher states of consciousness, we will perceive and experience levels or dimensions of reality that were, in effect, formerly nonexistent to us.
Here, it must be made clear that material, psychic, and spiritual dimensions of reality are not separate from one another; rather, they are different levels of one reality-truth-continuum and we are speaking of one meta-dimensional matrix of reality.
Unless the prophets and apostles reveal the keys of the mysteries to us, how would we receive knowledge of the mysteries? As the Master says, as souls involved so deeply in the material plane of existence, unless there were tzaddikim and maggidim to give us the keys, we could not receive them. This is especially true of the inmost and highest mysteries of the kingdom of heaven and soul of the Messiah. Were it not for the incarnation of the Spirit of the Messiah and the mystery drama played out by the perfect Master, we would not have the keys of the mysteries that are in our possession today.
What are the keys of the mysteries? They are teachings on the metaphysical order and inner dimensions of the reality-truth-continuum. They are methods of mystical prayer and prophetic meditation that allow an initiate to awaken the psychic and spiritual senses of his or her soul, and to shift into higher states of consciousness. Having these keys, an initiate is able to enter into direct experience of inner psychic and spiritual dimensions. Along with these teachings and instruction, there is also transmission of substantial spiritual energy-intelligence, a Light-transmission, that empowers the spiritual practices and helps awaken the inner and higher senses and powers of the soul and spirit. The substantial energy-intelligence and teachings of the secret wisdom transmitted are the keys to the mysteries, and through them, an initiate can open the gates of the mysteries and experience the divine revelation directly.
What does it mean to be worthy? Fundamentally, it means that you have faith in the reality and possibility of Messianic consciousness and actively seek to consciously evolve toward that self-realization. It means that you are ready and willing to receive teachings, instruction, and initiations, and to actively follow and practice the Way opened to you, entering into the great work as a conscious agent for the enlightenment and liberation of yourself, humanity, and the world.
