TYPES OF ANGLING

Coarse Fishing

Where's it practised?

In freshwater lakes and rivers.

What can I catch?

Anything but trout and salmon (see Game Fishing). So stuff like carp, tench, dace, perch, etc.

How?

Float fishing, spinning or ledgering.

Why?

It's a fair point, since coarse fish are generally returned to the water and watching a float for ages can be blummin' boring.

Who was the first president of the United States?

George Washington.

What's the capital of Ecuador?

Is it Quito?

You tell me.

Hang on, these are supposed to be questions pertinent to coarse fishing!

Tee hee.

THE TYPICAL COARSE ANGLER LOOKS A BIT LIKE THIS.

He doesn't appear to be doing much fishing.

Looks can be deceptive.

They can.

But not in this case, I'd suggest. Coarse anglers use alarms to tell them when they have a bite. Saves watching a float or swing-tip for ages.

And allows them to drink loads of beer, then take a nap?

Not all coarse anglers look like that. That one appears to be a bit of an alcoholic.

Why not just set an alarm for when the fishmonger opens and cut out all the rod-based shenanigans?

Because you don't generally eat coarse fish!

Then what's the point?!

You just don't get it, do you?

No!

Are you my wife in disguise?

No!

Then I suggest you read my chapter entitled 'Fishing – It's

Not All About Catching Fish' (see here).

I will do!

Good.

Good!

Yes it is.

Can we move on to the next topic now?

Please do.
