My bread-machine loaf has a slightly sweet flavor from molasses and a good, tender texture from oats.

1 cup warm water (70° to 80°)
1/2 cup molasses
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups bread flour
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast
1. In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available.
2. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water or flour if needed).
PER SERVING 1 slice equals 105 cal., 1 g fat (trace sat. fat), 0 chol., 121 mg sodium, 22 g carb., 1 g fiber, 3 g pro. Diabetic Exchange: 1 1/2 starch.
