COURAGE FROM GOD

After experiencing my own freshman retreat, I knew that I also wanted to help with campus ministry. I helped out in various ways for a few years, and then I was asked to give a testimony talk for the freshmen during their retreat. My initial response to the request was to say “no.” I didn’t think this was something I could do. Our campus minister, however, would not take “no” for an answer. Eventually I agreed.

Preparing for my talk, I knew I could only get the courage I needed from God. I trusted God to help me decide what to say as well as the courage and wisdom to share those words with others. After a lot of prayer and meditation, I felt ready to give the testimony.

When the time came for me to speak, I was so nervous I could feel my heart beating like crazy. But once I began to speak, the nerves began to go away. The best part of the experience for me was hearing all of the positive feedback I received from the freshman class. Knowing that my words changed a few minds was the best feeling I could have ever felt. I believe that God guided me and helped write the testimony he was asking me to give.
