GUIDED BY THE SPIRIT

Have you ever felt a deep and desperate yearning in your heart to help other people? Maybe you wanted to assist a friend in a bad relationship; maybe you want to help your family whom you see every day; or maybe approach the kid in school whose mom just died. Maybe you see your friend dying on the inside, and you just wish you could tell her that happiness isn’t wrapped up in the boy who cheated on her last Saturday.

I have had this feeling many times, and it made me angry that I couldn’t seem to make a difference in the world. I’ve played ideas of ways to help friends, family, and others over and over in my mind. After reading a blog and becoming kind of obsessed with the blogger’s creativity, I was inspired to start my own blog.

On May 17, I wrote my first blog post about a profound experience of charity. I started the blog for the purpose of telling the world that there is a light in the darkness. I wanted to share Christ with my generation. I began blogging when I was fifteen years old, and have been blogging for over a year now. I hope my blog portrays what it means to be a vibrant, young, Catholic teen. Everything in my blog hopefully serves to tell others about how to be faith-filled witnesses in our world. I feel that the Holy Spirit guides my blog because there is no way I could have expressed by myself how my faith is such an integral part of my life.

For Reflection

Image Think about times you have wanted to help someone. What did you do? How do you think you can continue to serve in this way for longer periods?

Image Pentecost was a moment of “great commission.” With the help of the Holy Spirit, the apostles were able to evangelize in many different languages so a great number could be saved. This author communicates God’s message through her blog. How do you communicate the Holy Spirit’s work in your life? What does he want you to say? How will you respond to the “great commission”?
