A Note on Language

Access to abortion is a matter of human rights that impacts all of us, regardless of our gender identity. Throughout the book, I use gender-inclusive terms like pregnant people and people who can become pregnant. This is to ensure that the language is inclusive of people who have abortions who do not identify as cisgender women, including trans men and nonbinary individuals, as well as to acknowledge that not all cisgender women are capable of becoming pregnant. Recognizing that language is ever evolving, in our pursuit of reproductive freedom and dignity for all people, let us commit to using the terms, language, and frames that hold space for all of us.
