In 2021, men accounted for 40% of college enrollments, down from nearly 60% in 1970. In the 2018–19 academic year, more than 1.1 million women received a bachelor’s degree, compared to fewer than 860,000 men. Fewer men going to college means fewer men on pathways to economic prosperity. More men getting off the ladder to prosperity means more men getting on the path to becoming what I consider the most dangerous cohort in America: broke and lonely males.
