Gweneth lay on her back and spit blood, glaring up at Calain, whose face was twisted as she pulled back, preparing to punch again. Gweneth blocked the blow with her forearm and gave Calain a sharp uppercut to the face. She was satisfied to see Calain go tumbling back and lunged on her, grabbing her in a headlock.

Calain grunted angrily and pried at Gweneth's bulging arm with her fingers, but Gweneth held on. Calain's nonsense had caused all of it – Cassandra's capture at the hands of Melvalda, Aereth being kidnapped, Cassandra's capture again at the hands of the fae -- and Gweneth wanted to make her suffer for once. Calain was always doing stupid things and facing no consequences with all the rewards! Predictably, she had won back Zelda's love, which Gweneth did not believe she deserved at all.

"And if she doesn't return?" said Calain quietly. She was looking at Selene like one lost, the green eyes strained.

Selene put a comforting hand on Calain's shoulder. "Then we shall stay together because we are sisters in arms."

"And stay celibate for a thousand years like Arryn?" snorted Calain. "I'd rather swallow my sword."

"A thousand years!" cried Gweneth, amazed. "How is Arryn still walking about sane?"

"More likely she's mad and good at concealing it," said Calain.

"Aye to that," laughed Gweneth.

Selene shrugged. "Perhaps we shall find another lady to serve . . . Or perhaps separate ladies, one for each of us."

"I dunno," said Gweneth, arms still folded. "I kind of liked all the group sex. If Zelda doesn't return, I shall find a woman who looks like her, and vent my sorrow in her bed."

Selene gave a soft, scoffing laugh. "Of course, you would."

--

"You mustn't be angry with Anindel, Mother," said Aereth sternly. "She loves me! I'm her daughter, too! You mustn't strangle her again!"

Gweneth grinned. "Did we miss something?" she asked Zelda.

--

"And you!" scolded Zelda, making Cassandra look up. "You attempted to sacrifice yourself for me yet again! You would have been trapped forever in Elwenhal!"

Cassandra smiled. "Trapped forever while making sweet love to you? Twere no more horrifying a fate," she teased.
