Opposition

image

‘Without contraries is no progression. Attraction and Repulsion, Reason and Energy, Love and Hate, are necessary to Human existence.’

William Blake

Disagreements are indicated here. Misunderstandings have led to conflict between those involved. Doubt and mistrust prevent cooperation. Under these circumstances, no serious progress can be made. Avoid unnecessary confrontation. Be willing to meet others half-way. A creative move of this kind can change the atmosphere. Hard attitudes soften just a little. The door to reconciliation opens, if only a fraction. Tread carefully because you can do only a limited amount at this time. Above all, be tolerant. This will create the possibility of finding common ground on which to build. Do not confuse tolerance with weakness. Only a strong person has the self-respect and generosity of heart it takes to be tolerant.

An opportunity for personal growth

There are times when opposition can be extremely useful. If you can work out your differences with others, new life is brought into the situation. But you must preserve your dignity. It is not a matter of giving in. You must certainly support your own point of view. At the same time you need to be willing to listen to the other side. Remember that opposites are essential to the life process. Their meeting can create stimulus and excitement. Alternatively, of course, they can fight and make life miserable for each other. It all depends on your attitude. If you can genuinely respect and learn from each other’s point of view, the period of opposition will be beneficial to all concerned.

Further aspects of the situation

NINE AT THE BEGINNING

Where there is a misunderstanding, do not try and force a reconciliation. Allow things to work themselves out at their own pace. The set-back is only temporary. You cannot lose what truly belongs in your life. If you are dealing with hostile people, keep them at a polite distance. Reacting aggressively will involve you unnecessarily in further conflict.

NINE IN THE SECOND PLACE

Be open to an unexpected or unusual turn of events. It will benefit you in some way. You may meet somebody you instantly recognize as a kindred spirit. Destiny is at work here.

SIX IN THE THIRD PLACE

One problem seems to follow another. Whatever you try to do is blocked. Do not give up. Support what you know to be right. In the end the situation will turn out well.

NINE IN THE FOURTH PLACE

Feelings of isolation will not last. You will meet somebody of like mind who you can trust and who will cooperate with you.

SIX IN THE FIFTH PLACE

Somebody is genuine in their desire for a reconciliation. Yet you have misgivings. But the person involved has your best interests at heart and can help you. Accept the olive branch and be willing to cooperate.

NINE AT THE TOP

Misunderstandings have led you to question the motives of people who in fact mean you well. It would be to your advantage to drop your defences and meet those concerned half-way. If you can stop seeing wrongs where there are none, relationships will take on a new lease of life.
