PROGRESSIVE RELAXATION

When we’re anxious our bodies often tense up without us realising. Progressive relaxation can be a good way of releasing this tension. Start by sitting or lying down. Focus on one muscle group – one hand, for instance. On an inhale, tense it as hard as you can for five seconds. As you exhale, release the tension until that muscle group is limp. Take your time and repeat this for all the muscle groups in your body. Not only is this exercise relaxing, but it helps you to become aware of what tension feels like in your body.
