CHAPTER 10

CARDIORESPIRATORY FITNESS PROGRAMS FOR TENNIS

Image

INTRODUCTION

This chapter provides information on cardiorespiratory conditioning programs for tennis and how to implement this into a complete program. The following is a list of sample conditioning programs which can be implemented.

Many of the agility drills presented in Chapter 12 can be used as conditioning drills by extending the work period and lowering the rest period. Other exercises which can be used for conditioning drills are track sprints, jumping rope, and riding a stationary bike. Remember to take into account the science behind endurance training as outlined in the previous chapter when designing and implementing your programs. Proper work/rest ratios should always be used when designing conditioning programs.
