This book, like all books, has the hands and minds of so many brilliant, generous, and loving people on every page.
Our team at Storey is made up of the most dedicated, talented, and creative people: Gwen Steege originally proposed the book to us and buoyantly shepherded it through its early phases. Michal Lumsden graciously took it on and dedicated her enthusiasm (and countless hours of work) to perfecting the projects. We prayed that Carolyn Eckert would design the book — and she did! Every beautiful page has her brilliance all over it. Margaret Lampert took the gorgeous photos that brought the projects to life, and her assistant, David Kurtis, was a model of good humor and expertise. Our meticulous technical editors and crafters — Dianne de Mott, Heather McQueen, and Jessica Miller-Smith — made sure that the projects worked, worked well, and were pretty to boot. We are lucky to have Alee Moncy and Sarah Armour cheering this book on and spreading the good word. And Deborah Balmuth, our publisher, is simply the greatest visionary and champion that anyone could hope for.
Sara Delaney patiently and selflessly taught us how to crochet — and any mistakes we continue to make are not her fault! We are also grateful to WEBS, the yarn store where she worked, for donating so much gorgeous yarn to our projects (special shout-out to their Berkshire line of yarn, which we love knitting with). We’d also like to thank all our friends and family, for friendship and kinship, and you our readers, for your willingness to fill your hands with crafting.
We were so lucky to have these beautiful, patient, and hardworking crafters and models: Ava Blum-Carr, Harry Blum-Carr, Inez Dole, Layla Elkalai, Sahar Elkalai, Roy Gentes, Katherine Kang, Finn Mead, Claire Michaels, Ben Newman, Birdy Newman, Jamie Park, April Schilling, Jenna Schilling, Zoe te Velde, plus our patient working models: Annabel Charles, Madison Davies, Adam Etwaroo, Ishan Jain, and Kaitlyn Vittum.
We are lucky in love: Jonathan and Michael were very patient and helpful while we sat around, knitting and drinking tea, and called it “work.” Thank you for that, and everything else.
