This section is designed to help you alleviate specific health problems through carefully created Yoga routines that you can practice at home. In addition to Yoga postures, the discussion of each ailment includes nutritional and lifestyle advice that is medically sound while fitting into the overall Yoga approach to health and healing. We feel it's important that you read Chapters 1–5 and become familiar with various breathing and relaxation techniques prior to beginning any of the Yoga routines in Chapters 7–14.

If you have a serious health condition, please consult your physician for diagnosis and treatment, and mention your intent to use Yoga as a complementary therapy. Yoga may not be appropriate in the acute stage of certain ailments, such as a her-niated disk or heart disease, but can be extremely beneficial in your recovery.
