Meet Nancy Vuu, Kids’ Couture Designer

I have had the huge honor of walking not once, but twice, in Nancy Vuu’s runway show during New York Fashion Week! I love her clothes because they feel “princessy” in a very grown-up way. She creates incredible gowns and dresses in gorgeous patterns and lush fabrics—like nothing I had ever seen before. Vogue says she is “taking the children’s fashion industry by storm” and her collections have appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Elle. She often accessorizes her runway looks with angel wings or a crown. What could be more special? Every time I get my first look at her new line, it takes my breath away. I asked Nancy if she would tell me all about her style and her inspiration.

Carrie: Did you always know you would be a fashion designer?

Nancy: As a little girl I loved to sketch fashion, and my dream was to become a fashion designer. But life took over and those dreams were long buried. Fast forward almost twenty-five years when I had a divine encounter which changed the course of my life and ushered me into my destiny.

Carrie: How would you describe Nancy Vuu Couture? What inspires you? Do you sketch your designs?

Nancy: Nancy Vuu is a luxury couture brand that styles the entire family with a focus on children and teens. My biggest inspiration is my faith. Our vision is to remind every child and teen out there that no matter their circumstance, they are wonderfully made and of true royalty. And yes I do and still love to sketch!

Carrie: Where are some of the most amazing places you have done a runway show?

Nancy: Cannes Fashion Festival, the UK, New York Fashion Week, and LA Fashion Week to name a few. Our fashion has also walked and made repeated appearances on the world-famous red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 and 2016.

Carrie: What advice do you have for kids who want to grow up one day and be designers?

Nancy: Dream big. Work smart. Stay focused. And never let anyone dull your sparkle!
