Super high frequency

The SHF band sits in the 3 GHz to 30 GHz range with wavelengths of 10 m to 1 cm. Due to its small wavelength, SHF is limited to line of sight direct communications such as satellite to satellite communication. Wi-Fi routers that use the 5 GHz frequency have a shorter range than ones that used 2.4 GHz. So, why would you want to use a 5 GHz Wi-Fi router instead of a 2.4 GHz router? We will explain this in the upcoming What is bandwidth? section.
