Incorporating Bluetooth technology into our edge analytics designs is somewhat limiting due to the range. However, there is an app available for the Android operating system called Blue Dot that may be quite useful for our designs. Blue Dot features a big blue dot on the screen that may be pressed, double pressed, swiped, and so on. It is designed to work with the Raspberry Pi. The following diagram shows our hockey rink smart heater modified to use Blue Dot on a tablet as a remote control:
As you can see, we've added the Blue Dot app to our design. We can use finger gestures to control our heater, overriding the temperature sensor and camera if we choose. For example, we may use a double-tap to turn off the heater regardless of how many people are seated.
