The Bible Is God’s Truth
The world will claim that the Bible is just a mythical book of stories and that it can’t be trusted as the ultimate source of truth that Christians claim it is. A number of reasons exist, however, as to why we can trust the Bible to be the inspired Word of God. First, God Himself declares it to be true: “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him” (Proverbs 30:5). There are also more original copies of the Bible than of any other literary work in history. The ancient texts from which God’s Word originated have a remarkable consistency and cohesion to one another. Moreover, an abundance of archeological evidence has confirmed many of the historical and cultural references in the Bible. The Bible was also written over a 1,500-year period by 40 different authors—the vast majority of whom were martyred for their faith. Would you die for something you knew to be a lie? Finally, Jesus fulfilled 351 individual Biblical prophecies. The mathematical probability of one man fulfilling only eight of these prophecies is about 10 to the 17th power, or one-in 100,000,000,000,000,000… A number so large, that it would be equivalent to laying silver dollars two feet deep on the face of the state of Texas, marking only one of them, and having a blindfolded man pick the marked silver dollar—statistically impossible! The fact that one Man, the God-man Jesus Christ, God the Son, fulfilled all 351 individual biblical prophesies is the only proof we really need that Jesus is who He claimed to be, and that the Bible is the infallible and authoritative Divinely Revealed Word of God. But if that isn’t convincing enough, I can promise you that if you authentically pray that God would reveal Himself to you as you read it, He promises that He will.
