Twenty-One

Susie

“I can’t believe Brody just called me,” I stared at Shantal, Lilian, and Marcia. They all looked at me with different expressions, though none of them looked surprised. “Why do none of you guys look surprised?”

“I had a feeling he’d call you. He just seems like that sort of guy.”

“What do you mean?”

“The sort of guy that desperately wants what he can’t have,” she said with a shrug.

“Yeah.” Lilian nodded. “He’s a total playboy. I have a friend that knew someone that hooked up with him in LA. Let’s just say he has a voracious appetite, and I’m not talking about food.”

“Oh, wow,” Shantal said.

“I mean, I can’t lie,” Lilian continued. “If he wanted to fuck me, I would’ve said yes. He’s gorgeous, girl. Absolutely gorgeous. I can’t believe you turned him down.”

“I know, but he knows he’s gorgeous,” I said. “He’s just so cocky, and I’m not looking to hook up with a guy that doesn’t care about me. I know that sounds totally unrealistic in this day and age, especially if it’s a one-night stand or something, but is it too much to ask to want the guy to kind of like you?”

“Not at all,” Lilian said. “You deserve the best.”

“Yes, you do,” Marcia said. “We all deserve the best.”

“Well, you’ve got the best,” Shantal told Marcia. “I still think it’s crazy that you’re dating our boss, but I’m not going to say anything.”

“Please don’t,” Marcia said. “It’s not like I tried to date the boss. It’s just that he and I ended up working out.”

“Lucky bitch,” Lilian said, and we all laughed.

“Okay. Don’t look now,” Shantal said, “but I think there’s a guy checking you out, Susie.”

“What do you mean? What guy?”

“I said don’t look! There’s a blonde guy. Oh my gosh, he’s coming. Okay, everyone stay cool.”

I couldn’t stop myself, and I looked over my right shoulder. There was a gorgeous guy heading toward me with long blonde curly hair and big blue eyes. He slightly resembled the actor Travis Van Winkle.

My heart was pounding. In the back of my mind, I was thinking about Brody and his calls, but what had he expected me to do? What had he expected me to say? It wasn’t my fault he wasn’t having fun at the party. How dare he tell me that there were two women that wanted to fuck him. Was he trying to make me jealous?

“Hi.” The tall blonde guy stopped in front of me.

“Hi,” I said.

“What’s your name, sexy?”

“Susie,” I said with a slight smile. This guy was pretty confident. “What’s your name?”

“Bradley.”

“Oh, well, it’s nice to meet you, Bradley.”

“You too.” He looked around at my friends and smiled. “Nice to meet all of you, actually. I don’t mean to be rude, but I just had my eye on this curly haired vixen.”

“Well, thanks.” I laughed, playing with my curls.

“I was wondering if I could buy you a drink,” he said softly.

I looked at my friends, not sure what to do.

“Go on,” Marcia urged me. “Go have a drink. We’ll be right here.”

“Okay.” I looked back at Bradley and nodded. “A drink sounds nice.”

“Awesome. It must be my lucky night,” he said as we headed over to the bar. “I hope you don’t think I’m too forward. I don’t normally do stuff like this.”

“Really?” I said, surprised. “You seem pretty confident.”

“I guess maybe it was the whiskey I had earlier tonight.” He shrugged. “But when I saw you standing there, I just knew I had to say hello.”

“Oh. Well, I guess that’s pretty cool.”

I didn’t really know what to say. He was a very handsome man, and he had a sweet smile and genuine eyes, but I wasn’t interested in him that way. My mind was full of Brody—wanting to talk to him and wanting to know exactly what he was doing. I turned off my phone because he’d kept calling and texting me, and I just wasn’t ready to have a conversation, and certainly not while I was out with my friends. How rude would that have been?

“So what are you thinking about?” he said softly.

“Sorry, what?” I blinked, realizing I’d completely spaced out.

“I was just asking what you were thinking about. You seemed to be in another galaxy.” He ran his hand through his hair and reached over and touched my lips. I blinked and he grinned. “Sorry. You just have the most beautiful lips.”

“Oh, thank you,” I said, taken aback.

“I want to kiss them.”

“Oh.” I stared at him with wide eyes. This was getting dirty pretty fast.

“I know I said I’m not forward, but I like to be honest, you know?”

“Sure,” I said as we stood next to the bar.

“What d’you want to drink?”

“I guess I’ll get a tequila sunrise.”

“Knew it,” he said, almost shouting.

“Sorry, knew what?”

“I knew you’d be the sort of girl that would want a cocktail. No beer for you.”

“Okay. Yeah. I don’t really like beer.”

“Yep. I knew it.”

“Well, good for you. You’re smart, Bradley.”

“Handsome and smart,” he said.

“Yeah. So what are you going to get to drink?” I looked over at my group of friends, who were staring at me, and tried not to make a face. I should have known it was too good to be true.

“Probably another whiskey. I mean, it got me to you. So maybe it will prove to be lucky again tonight.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“I don’t know,” he said. His eyes roamed down my body, all the way to my feet. “Wow. Nice heels.”

“Oh, thank you.”

“Are they Louboutins?”

“No. I don’t have money for Louboutins.”

“Maybe I’ll buy you a pair one day.”

“Okay. That would be cool,” I said, not really knowing what to say. It’s not like I wanted him to buy me heels. I didn’t even know the man.

“But I’ll only buy them on one condition.”

“What condition is that?”

“If you walk over me with them.”

“If I what?” I said.

“If you walk over my body in your high heels,” he almost purred. “And then slip them off and give them to me.”

Okay. Oh God. What’s going on? I wanted to scream and shout and run away from him. “Then I want you to walk over me with your bare feet.”

“Okay.”

“Then I want you to sit on my face.”

My jaw dropped then. “Sorry, what?”

“I want you to sit on my face. But before I eat you out, I want to suck on your toes.”

“I think we’ve had some miscommunication here. I don’t think we’re looking for the—”

“As soon as I saw you in those heels, I knew you were the one for me. You look like the sort of woman that can take charge, walk all over me, and whip me.”

“I don’t think I’m interested in whipping you.”

“But what if I gave you a little pleasure and pain?”

“Not interested thanks.”

“You didn’t read Fifty Shades of Grey?”

“I didn’t, no. Why?”

“Oh, because doesn’t every woman want a Christian Grey?”

“No, I don’t think so, but maybe you should join a kink site to find a woman that does.”

“So you’re telling me you’re not into whips and chains?”

“Yeah, I’m telling you that.”

“You don’t like it when a man sucks on your toes?”

“I can honestly say I’ve never had a man suck on my toes. Bradley, while it’s been very nice getting to know you, I think I’m actually going to have to go back to my friends without the tequila sunrise.”

“What the fuck? I already ordered it.”

“No, you didn’t. No one’s taken your order yet.”

“Yeah, but I was about to order. I mean, when I saw you,” he mumbled. He was getting flustered and red. “So what? Now you think I’m some jerk just because I told you I like to suck on toes?”

“No. I mean, good for you. I just don’t think my toes are the ones you’re going to be sucking on.”

“You’re too good for me to suck on your toes?”

“You know what? I’m going to walk away from this right now. It was very nice meeting you.”

“Whatever, bitch,” he said and walked away.

I stared after him for a few seconds and then walked over to my friends.

“What the hell happened?” Marcia said, looking at me with wide eyes. “It looked like it got heated, and then he just walked away.”

“Girl, this is not my day. Let’s just say, dude had a foot fetish and didn’t seem happy by the fact that I wasn’t interested in him sucking my toes after or before—I don’t even know—me whipping him.”

“Whipping him?” Shantal said. “Say what?”

“Don’t even ask.”

Lilian shook head. “Oh my gosh, what is up with the men in this fucking city?”

“Girl, the question should be What is up with all the men in the world, period?”
