You can lean heavily on the book of Philippians, and it will not weaken or stagger under your weight. Though its author wrote it while in prison, it bursts with joy and brims with optimism. Here’s a prayer gleaned from phrases in the first chapter:
Lord, I thank You for____________________, being confident of this, that You who have begun a good work in him will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ. It is right for me to pray this, because I have him in my heart. You know how greatly I long for this child with the affection of Christ. I pray that his love may abound more and more in knowledge and discernment, that he may approve the things that are excellent. Make him sincere and without offense until the day of Christ, being filled with the fruits of righteousness to Your glory and praise.
