A loving, merciful God?
The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works. [Psalms 145:9]
…God is love. [1 John 4:8]
But:
[God says:] I will not pity, nor spare, nor have mercy, but destroy them. [Jeremiah 13:14]
[God says:] If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them. [Jeremiah 18:8]
[Jesus says:] And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. [Matthew 10:28]
Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty…. Behold, the day of the LORD-cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it…. Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger. [Isaiah 13:6,9,13]
But God will smash the heads of his enemies, crushing the skulls of those who love their guilty ways. The LORD says, “I will bring my enemies down from Bashan; I will bring them up from the depths of the sea. You, my people, will wash your feet in their blood, and even your dogs will get their share!” [Psalms 68:21-23, New Living Translation]

A peaceful God?
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen. [Romans 15:33]
But:
The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name. [Exodus 15:3]

Do children pay the price?
[God says:] The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin. [2 Kings 14:6]
[God says:] The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. [Ezekiel 18:20]
But:
I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; [Exodus 20:5]

To swear oaths or not to swear oaths?
Above all, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. [James 5:12, New International]
But:
When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised. Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. [Hebrews 6:13-16, New International]

Father and Son, or Father Is Son?

Sevens or twos?
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. [Genesis 7:2]

Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth, There went in two and two unto Noah into the ark, the male and the female, as God had commanded Noah. [Genesis 7:8-9]

The last words (or not) of Jesus

Hearing voices, maybe
And the men which journeyed with him [Saul] stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man. [Acts 9:7]

Omniscient or blind?

Should you honor or hate your parents?
Honour thy father and thy mother: [Exodus 20:12]
For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. [Matthew 15:4]
But:
[Jesus says:] If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. [Luke 14:26]

Eye for eye, cheek for cheek
Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again. [Leveticus 24:20]

The four deaths of Saul

Forever isn't what it used to be

Thad or Jude?
Matthew [10:2] and Mark [3:16-19] list the Twelve Apostles as including Thaddaeus (Labbaeus), but Luke [6:13-16] doesn't include Thaddeus. Instead, the twelfth Apostle is Judas the son of James (different than Judas Iscariot).

[Jesus says:] You judge by human standards; I pass judgment on no one. [John 8:15, New International]

Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, [John 5:22, New International]

Jesus in Hell?

[Jesus says:] Ye fools and blind. [Matthew 23:17]

Omnipotent or impotent?
But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. [Matthew 19:26]
But:
And the LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. [Judges 1:19]
