Top tip
It would seem that it is a good idea to give your gut a rest in between meals, but if you must snack, it is a good idea to stick to small, healthy snacks that won’t put too much pressure on your gallbladder in between meals.
Suggestions for snacking
Served with fat-free yoghurt dip or salsa
Place washed grapes in the freezer for at least 2 hours
Bowl of fat-free Greek yoghurt with a dash of cinnamon and 1 tsp honey
Put a few slices of fresh pineapple under the grill, or ‘flash-fry’ them in a couple of sprays of cooking spray
Bowl of mixed berries (raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, and/or blackberries) tossed with 1 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice
One sliced banana, a tub of fat-free vanilla Greek yoghurt, and a handful of ice – blend until smooth
One small banana sliced, dipped in lemon juice and baked until crisp
Purée a small frozen banana; this comes up like ice cream. You can add berries if desired.
Steamed skimmed milk with a shot of espresso
A bunch of raw kale (stems removed) sprayed with cooking oil spray and baked at 200°C/400°F until crispy
A bunch of chopped kale leaves tossed with 1 tsp honey and 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
A bunch of raw spinach mixed with a handful of sliced strawberries and a tbsp of balsamic vinegar
