Evelyn Clark has been knitting off and on since she was eight. She is a freelance photographer, writer, and designer whose knitting patterns have been published by Fiber Trends, Knitter’s, Leisure Arts, Interweave Knits, and Vogue Knitting magazines. She enjoys exploring new stitch patterns, especially in lace. She also teaches beginning knitting to elementary school children. She lives in Seattle, Washington.
Linda Daniels owns and operates Northampton Wools, in Northampton, Massachusetts, a full-service retail store offering knitting classes and a wide selection of yarns from around the world. Interweave Knits has featured many of her patterns, and she designed and knit several sweaters for the 1999 hit movie The Cider House Rules.

Canadian sisters Deb and Lynda Gemmell own and operate Cabin Fever, a hand-knitting pattern publisher, in Woodville, Ontario, Canada. The innovative duo design dozens of patterns for sweaters, hats, socks, and other apparel that are sold in yarn shops across North America. Most are knit in the round and in one piece, with virtually no sewing required. Plus sizes are also a standard element of most of their patterns.
Nancy Lindberg developed her teaching skills while owning a yarn shop in Minneapolis for over a decade. She moved on to pattern designing and continues to teach, an activity that has garnered a large, faithful following. Her patterns appeal to all knitting levels and are available in yarn shops nationwide.
Retired from a successful corporate career, Betsy Lee McCarthy now enjoys designing simple, innovative knitwear patterns and teaching nationally and locally. Her sock and hat patterns have been published by Fiber Trends. Her Knit Socks!, first published in 2004, was released in a paperback version in 2011. She lives in Vancouver, Washington.
Owner of Sakonnet Purls, in Tiverton, Rhode Island, Louise Silverman found the need to create patterns that take the mystery out of knitting. She calls her designs “Friendly Patterns for the Average Knitter.” More than 40 Designs by Louise patterns are available in knitting and needlework stores nationwide.
Barbara Telford’s Woodsmoke Woolworks is a farm-based knitwear and design shop based in Upper Gagetown, New Brunswick, Canada. She won the New Brunswick Craft Council’s Oudemans Christmas Choice Award in 2002 for the ingenuity of her knitted hat collection. Her unique work is outstanding for her ability to produce witty and lively designs.
