1. Create a Patchwork Squares background following the directions in the techniques section. The colors for this background are Linen, Wicker White and Basil Green. Let dry. Double-load a no. 16 flat with Thicket and Fresh Foliage, plus a little Wicker White occasionally. Paint the stems and the smaller one-stroke leaves.
2. With the same brush and colors, paint the larger wiggle-edge leaves, keeping the Thicket to the outside. Pull stems partway into the centers of the leaves.
3. Double-load a no. 12 flat with Violet Pansy and Wicker White. Begin painting the petals of the bellflowers, keeping the Violet Pansy to the outside. Begin with large C-strokes for the base, then add the pointed petal edges.
4. In the sideview blossoms, paint little stamens with Fresh Foliage and Wicker White on a no. 2 script liner. Dot the ends with Yellow Light. Double-load a no. 12 flat with Violet Pansy and Wicker White. Paint the top petals of the trumpet shape on each bellflower facing toward you.
5. Using the same brush and colors, stroke in a lot of little buds to fill in among the bellflowers. Use a daisy-petal touch-and-pull stroke, leading with the Violet Pansy side of the brush. Finish with stamens of Fresh Foliage and Wicker White on a no. 2 script liner. Dot the ends with Yellow Light.
