1. To make a bold statement with your landscape paintings, try painting them across two, three or even four canvases! Start with two vertical canvases like these. Each one is 18" × 24" (46cm × 61cm).
2. Push them together so you can see the final size and shape.
3. Sponge on your background colors across both canvases.
4. If your canvases have staple-free edges like these, continue sponging paint over all four edges of each canvas. This gives a finished, gallery-style look to your artwork and no frames are needed.
1. If you want to paint a panoramic scene such as an ocean, you can make an extremely horizontal shape using three square canvases. These three are each 16" (41cm) square.
2. Push them together to see the final size and shape. (If you want to create a tall, narrow painting, stack the three canvases vertically.)
3. Sponge on your background colors carrying them across all three canvases.
4. If your canvases have staple-free edges like these, continue sponging paint over the edges on both sides, and the top and bottom of each canvas. This gives a finished look to your painting.
1. Here’s a great way to get a fresh and updated look to your home decor. Take four square canvases like these and arrange them into one larger square, leaving a little open space between each canvas. Each of these is 14" (36cm) square.
2. Push them together, side by side and top to bottom, to make painting across them easier. Don’t worry about little gaps along the edges—these will not show when your artwork is hung on a wall with a bit of space between each canvas.
3. Sponge on your background colors across the canvases. For better design, don’t use the horizontal division between the upper and lower canvases as your horizon line. Place it either above or below the division. Offset your focal point from the vertical division, too.
4. If your canvases have staple-free edges like these, continue sponging paint over the edges on both sides, top and bottom of each canvas. This gives a finished look to your painting and allows you to display the canvases without any frames.
