Times are changing on the farm. Perhaps it was unavoidable. We’ve started thinking of the sheep as a source of income. There are going to be even more of them, and we’re going to get an accredited abattoir. We’re starting to be like real farmers. You have to have an income, not be a drain on society. On the other hand, in principle you can build nuclear weapons and make porn without being a drain on society, you might even be counted as an asset in the government’s math. Going around, kicking pebbles, and wondering about the meaning of everything, on the other hand, that’s suspect. It’s no wonder motivation’s low.
