Rain

Her eyes widened at his commanding tone, but Rain moved towards the table as instructed.  Normally she wasn’t big on the whole alpha male thing but damn it felt different when John did it. Exciting, not arrogant.

John grasped her waist and lifted her onto the massage table, pushing her back with a hand on the sternum.  Rain lowered herself onto her elbows, watching as he knelt at the end of the table.  Grabbing her legs, he slid her towards the edge, the movement bunching her shirt up near her waist.

He grabbed her underwear, sliding it off and slipping it into his pocket, then draped one of her legs over each shoulder.  John leaned down, inhaling loudly.  “You smell like you’re turned on,” he whispered darkly.  “Did you like sucking me off like that?”

“It was OK,” she teased.  “I’ve had better.”

He smirked, then slid one long finger through her folds.  “Feels like it was more than OK sweetheart,” he growled.  “You’re dripping wet for me.”

Without another word he lowered his head and began licking her from end to end, holding firmly to her thighs to keep her in place.  His tongue circled her engorged clit as one thick finger slid into her wet channel.

“John!” she choked.

He began to move his finger in and out, adding a second finger, scissoring them away from each other while continuing to tease her clit with his tongue.

It was fast, but Rain could already feel her orgasm coming closer,  tightening her internal muscles.  John must have felt it as well.  He sucked her clit into his mouth, biting it lightly, and bent his fingers until he found that patch of nerves that released her orgasm.

“Ahhh!” she wailed, words failing her as she stiffened, her back bowing off the table.  She started shaking as wave after wave of pleasure raced through her body. John continued licking and stroking her through her orgasm until she fell down against the table, boneless.

She felt wrecked, totally wrecked.  The earth had shifted beneath her, and she knew that things would never be the same again.  Who was this guy who looked like he should be doing her taxes, but played her body like a fine instrument?

He stood up and leaned over her, pinning her down for a brief moment before dropping a soft kiss on her lips.  She could smell her arousal on his face as he leaned in.  His eyes were dark with pleasure and a look that could only be described as male pride.

“I’ve got to go back to work now,” he whispered regretfully.  “Can I see you later?”

She nodded, words failing her. John helped her stand up and pulled her skirt back down, moving away from the table and pulling her behind him as if he couldn’t bear to detach from her yet.

“Um, my panties?” she reminded him, finally finding words.

He turned to face her and patted his front pocket.  “I think I’ll just keep these for now,” he said, leaning down to give her a chaste kiss on the forehead.  “I’ll hold them for ransom for later,” he teased.

She shook her head.  What was it with men and collecting panties?

“See you later Rain,” he said, walking away with the purposeful stride of a man who’d just satisfied his woman.

“Bye,” she called lamely, still too shaken from the force of her orgasm to contemplate a more engaging conversation.  She leaned against the table for a long time after he left,  staring into space and wondering what had just happened.

“I heard that you and Red got back together,” Rain nudged her friend Daisy gently with her shoulder.  “Is it true?”

She and Daisy were walking Luna and Daisy’s ginormous dog Vinnie.  Luna alternated between pulling and stopping to sniff everything, while Vinnie stuck close to Daisy’s side, focused only on Daisy despite passing a hissing cat on the sidewalk.  She hoped that Luna would learn some good manners from Vinnie.

Luna lunged for the cat.  Maybe not, she thought, pulling Luna back closer to her.

“Yeah,” Daisy responded to her earlier question with a small smile.  “We are back together.  Things are going really well.  In fact, we’re talking about moving in together.”

“I’m so happy for you.  What happened?” Rain asked curiously.  “We were all surprised when you broke up with him.  He was clearly devastated.”

She and Daisy had gotten friendly several years ago when Daisy helped her do the paperwork for her business license for Rain’s Remedies.  They were similar ages, and even though they were totally different personalities, they had immediately hit it off.

Rain had been new to town at the time and Daisy brought her into her circle of friends.  The two had been good friends ever since.  Or as good friends as anyone could be with Daisy – she was notoriously private.  Private enough that Rain was surprised when Daisy answered her question about the break-up.

“The people who shot me, they’re from my past,” Daisy started, twisting her free hand around her long strawberry blonde ponytail. “They came for me before and failed. They decided to try again.”

Rain’s head jerked in shock, but she didn’t interrupt.  The attack on Daisy had rocked their peaceful little town. Everyone had assumed that the attack had been random, a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The thought that someone had purposely hurt her sweet friend, almost killing her, made Rain sick to her stomach.

“After it happened. I was laying in the hospital, and I thought, well they’re just going to keep coming for me, trying to hurt me. I had this sudden terror that they would come for Red if they knew about him,” Daisy continued.  “I knew they would think they could hurt me by hurting him. I decided the pain of breaking up with him outweighed the possibility of Red getting killed, or worse.”

Daisy’s eyes looked sad and distant, so Rain resisted asking her friend what “worse” she was imagining.  “What changed your mind?” she prodded instead.

“My foster mother finally gave me a piece of her mind, called me a coward for letting them have so much power in my life that I pushed away the man I love,” Daisy explained.  “It made me realize that I couldn’t live in fear.  That Red was worth taking a risk for.”

“And the danger?” she asked.

“It looks like the people who came for me will be in jail for a long time now,” Daisy said.  “But I’ve decided I’m not going to live my life afraid of what might happen. I decided it was OK to allow myself to be with the man I love. To embrace happiness.”

Rain reached over and gave Daisy a one-armed hug.  “That’s great sweetie, I’m so happy for you,” she said.  “You and Red seem like a great couple.”

They stopped while Vinnie peed on a bush.  Luna raced behind him, trying to pee on the same spot.

“Speaking of great couples,” Daisy said as she rolled her eyes at the dogs,  “What’s up with you and Dr. John?  Rumor has it you two have been hot and heavy.”

“Hot and heavy?” Rain laughed.  “We’re not seventeen you know. Stupid town rumor mill.”

“Are you saying he’s a dud in the sack?” Daisy asked teasingly.

“Oh my god Daisy,” Rain choked as she stopped to look at her friend.  “I don’t think I’ve ever seen this side of you!”

Daisy winked.  “So, is that a yes on the dud?”

Rain shook her head.  “No, definitely not a dud,” she confided.  “In fact, he’s whatever the opposite of a dud is.”

“Go Dr. John,” Daisy cheered.  “I always wondered if he was really a tiger under his doctor persona.  So how long have you guys been together? I’ve been out of it with...everything. Although not so out of it that I didn’t notice that something was going on when you were yelling at each other in my hospital room.”

“I don’t know if I would say we’re together,” Rain hedged.  “But we started, um, hanging out, a few days after that day I came to see you at the hospital. So....I guess it’s been about six weeks.”

“You’re hanging out, going on dates, having super hot non-dud sex?” Daisy clarified.

At Rain’s nod she continued.  “Seems like you’re together to me.”

“I don’t know Daisy,  we don’t have too much in common,” Rain said.  “Besides the hot sex that is.”

“You two seem cute together,  like two sides of the same coin,” her friend responded. “Red and I are very different, but we seem to fit.  Trust me, you can make it work.  When you come out of your sex all the time phase, give me holler and we’ll double date.”
