A Note from the Author

Dear Readers,

In 1990, thirteen major artworks were stolen from Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. The brazen theft has since become known as the greatest art heist in history. As of this writing, not a single piece of the stolen artworks has ever been recovered. No one was ever charged with the theft, and most of the suspects and persons of interest have since died.

I’ve been fascinated by this unsolved crime for decades and decided to use it as the inspiration behind Guilty as Framed, the eleventh full-length novel in my Anastasia Pollack Crafting Mystery series. My story incorporates actual events as gleaned through my research. However, for the purpose of storytelling, I’ve taken literary license to fictionalize these events, changed the names of suspects, and created new characters.

If you’re interested in learning more about the robbery and investigation, there are many news reports and articles on the Internet as well as several books and documentaries that are available.

I hope you enjoyed Guilty as Framed. If so, please consider leaving a review at your favorite review site.

Happy reading!

Lois Winston
