8.5    Summary

The previous chapters in the book have demonstrated the need to migrate to SAP PO. This chapter empowers you to achieve such a migration by exploring the different aspects that come into consideration when migrating an existing SAP PI dual-stack system to an SAP PO system. We’ve shown that you need to migrate the SLD, ES Repository, and Integration Directory objects in order. Both the manual export or import and the normal transport mechanism can be used during the migration of the different components. SAP released an Integration Directory Migration tool, which facilitates the fast and quick migration of Integration Directory content. It’s important to be aware that some ABAP-based objects, such as ccBPM processes, ABAP mappings, and receiver rules, can’t be directly migrated and will have to be redesigned into their Java-based equivalent objects. The chapter also lists alternative Java-based objects for those ABAP objects that can’t be directly migrated.

The next chapter introduces the concepts of the SAP BPM platform and of the Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN 2.0).
