It’s not about me, but You, Lord,
My life is Yours alone.
Struggling with this constantly,
I make plans on my own.
Then when the plans do go awry
As, without You, they oft do,
I get upset and wonder why
Until I turn to You.
Everything comes flooding back,
I didn’t seek Your face.
I didn’t give my thoughts to You,
Or seek Your will and grace.
I hope I’m learning through my trials
That Your will is primary
That everything I think and wish
Is strictly secondary.
So help me, Father, as I tread
To keep You foremost everyday,
To look to You, to seek Your will
And then to trust You’ll show Your way.
A thought about God’s pre-eminence—Put God first; everything else flies “space available.”
