Dawn

Awake and just enjoying

The sounds of early morn,

The crickets chirping noisily,

Encouraging the dawn.

The old owl sings his final calls

Before he goes to sleep,

The sky begins to lighten

As the sun does upward creep.

An expectant quiet in the air,

The smell of dewy grass,

His creatures wait to greet the dawn,

The night has finally passed.
