My precious mother-in-law passed away three days after Christmas in 2006. My husband and I had been caring for her and my father-in-law for three years. Though you try to prepare yourself for the passing, it’s never easy. However, the Lord gave us strength and stamina to endure the details that had to be given attention.

Gran’s Passing

Gran’s passing to another phase of life

Was peaceful, yet the family feels the strife.

The sorrow that she’s not among us now;

The busyness that comes with death somehow.

The meetings, planning, obligations met.

Our minds not with it—what did we forget?

Yet, I hear my Lord say “Peace. Be still.

Remember, I will help you climb this hill.

I’m with you through it all, so have no fear.”

He gives us strength to meet another year.
