At the time my husband and I cared for his parents, I was studying 1 Peter and meditating on the word “care.” I wrote down my meditations and, in compiling this book, it occurred to me the thoughts may be of value to another caregiver.
Care has several definitions. 1 Peter 5:7 reads, “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you” (NKJV). The initial use of the word “care” refers to worries or concerns. The second reference has a double meaning. It means God loves you and has affection toward you. It also refers to His concern for your well-being as a provider of your needs.
As a caregiver, if I am to follow Christ’s example, I must address my charge’s concerns, and provide love and security, to allay my charge’s fears in addition to providing physical needs and comforts.
The “Great Caregiver” is also the “Great Caretaker.”
