The act of repentance is twofold.
The first part is regret,
A sorrow for the things done wrong,
Acknowledging my debt.
The second is a turn about,
A turn from wicked ways,
A heartfelt wish to please the Lord
In all I do, all days.
So, I see both parts must be there
To truly be repentant.
Regret for the past evil ways
And a strong intent to change it.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,”
—Acts 3:19 (NIV)
