Chapter Thirteen

Luma slipped the bracelet off her wrist to examine it more closely.

It was the little black and gold dragon charm that was glowing.

Luma thought back to that morning. She had seen the light when Timir was far from her and it had started flashing just before Timir came out of the tall, tall trees.

Luma had an idea.

She walked straight ahead and, just as she expected, the glow dimmed.

She turned around and walked in the opposite direction and the glow became brighter.

“I knew it!” Luma said. “The charm is telling me where to go!”

Luma kept walking, keeping the bracelet in front of her. Every time the glow dimmed, she changed direction until it shone again.

Soon enough, it was shining so bright she could have used it as a flashlight!

And then, finally, the charm began to flash.

Luma held her breath. She heard a rustle behind a tree and then there was Timir, running toward her.

images Timir howled, jumping into her arms.

Luma fell backward, Timir landing on her chest and licking her face all over.

“Oh, Timir, I thought I had lost you.”

“I was lost,” Timir said. “The squirrel ran with my treat and I chased, but then the squirrel was gone and … and …” Timir wailed.

“Shush, now,” Luma said, cuddling Timir closer. “I’m here and the bracelet helped me find you.”

“We go back now?” Timir asked, staring up at her.

Luma shook her head. “I don’t know where we are at all, Timir.”

Timir sat up and moved off Luma’s lap. He put his nose to the ground and began to sniff.

“What is it, Timir?”

Timir stared straight ahead. “Nani,” he said. “This way.”
